United States Captain Davis Love III Urges Team To Keep Up Form
The USA made the perfect start to their quest to regain the Ryder Cup, prompting Davis Love III to say: "Keep doing the same thing."
United States captain Davis Love III urged his team to carry on in the same vein following their sensational start to the Ryder Cup at Hazeltine.
The USA completed a clean sweep in the foursomes format on Friday to open up a 4-0 lead and significantly enhance their hopes of winning the biennial event for the first time since 2008.
"It's a good start. But it's a long way to go," warned Love.
"There's a lot more points out there. Keep doing the same thing over and over every session.
"They have come together really over the last couple of weeks. It's been an emotional trip for this team the way the picks went down.
"From top to bottom, all 18 of us [Love, his vice-captains and players] have really come together, supported each other."
Despite his team's dominance of the opening session, Love opted to make significant changes for the afternoon fourballs, calling up the four players who sat out the morning and leaving out Rickie Fowler, Phil Mickelson, Jimmy Walker and Zach Johnson.
"It's tough. We had four wins, so you are going to sit out some guys that won or you are going to leave a bunch of guys on the bench. I think top to bottom we are all playing really well," added the home skipper.
"The guys that are getting ready to go out there [Ryan Moore, JB Holmes, Brandt Snedeker and Brooks Koepka], we've had some conversations and they are ready to go.
"I think we've got a good line-up no matter which four we put out at a time."
