Despite reports that James Rodriguez's separated shoulder -- injured in Colombia's opening Copa America win against USA -- would keep him from their second game against Paraguay, the Real Madrid midfielder started the game.
Rodriguez was instrumental in Colombia's opening two goals: sending in the corner which Carlos Bacca headed home to put the Cafeteros in front and scoring the second himself with a low drive after sloppy defending by Paraguay.
Colombia manager Jose Pekerman was true to his word after saying that he would give Rodriguez every chance to recover in time to start the game and the move paid off handsomely.
