Mladenovic survives scare against Sasnovich

Second seed Kristina Mladenovic survived a scare to reach the quarter-finals of the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships.
Mladenovic, who reached the last eight on the clay at the French Open, won her first match on grass this season against Risa Ozaki in straight sets but was forced to come from behind to beat Aliaksandra Sasnovich 3-6 6-2 6-2 in the second round.
Fifth seed Ana Konjuh also had to fight back after losing the first set against Richel Hogenkamp, winning 4-6 6-3 6-4, while there were also victories for Evgeniya Rodina and Arantxa Rus.
At the Aegon Open, top seed Johanna Konta beat Yanina Wickmayer 6-4 6-1 in the second round but Lucie Safarova needed just short of two hours to overcome Hsieh Su-wei 1-6 6-3 7-6 (9-7).
Fourth seed Alison Riske lost 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 7-5 to Magdalena Rybarikova and fellow American Christina McHale was defeated by Maria Sakkari.
