Cibulkova dominates to set up Golubic Linz final
Second seed Dominika Cibulkova will meet Viktorija Golubic in the final of the Generali Ladies Linz on Sunday.
Dominika Cibulkova maintained her perfect record at the 2016 Generali Ladies Linz as she booked her final place with a straight-sets win over Carla Suarez Navarro.
Cibulkova goes into Sunday's showpiece event yet to drop a set in Austria and even fourth seed Suarez Navarro was unable to take the Slovakian to a deciding set as she was beaten 6-4 6-3.
Suarez Navarro's second serve proved to be her downfall in Saturday's semi-final as she won just 11 per cent of points, Cibulkova pouncing at every given opportunity to punish her rival.
Holding serve proved difficult for both players in the opening set with an astonishing nine breaks, only the opening game from Cibulkova going with serve.
The second set proved more straight forward for the second seed as she rattled off four games in a row before passing up three match-point opportunities.
She did not waste her fourth, though, as she cruised into the final against world number 62 Viktorija Golubic.
Golubic did not even have to take to court for her semi-final as her opponent Madison Keys withdrew due to illness, handing the Swiss her second final appearance of her career – the first having come as she claimed the Gstaad title in July.
