Gallito Vazquez latest Mexican out of U.S. clash with injury
The Leon midfielder continued to have discomfort in his legs and will return to his club for additional treatment instead of facing the United States.
The injuries continue mounting for Mexico ahead of Saturday's CONCACAF Cup.
Jose Juan "Gallito" Vazquez is returning to Leon for injury treatment, the Mexican federation announced Tuesday, to be replaced on the roster by club teammate Elias Hernandez. Vazquez is experiencing discomfort in the back of his left thigh and right calf, according to a news release.
Vazquez started all Mexico's group matches at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and turned in a stellar performance in Mexico's 2-2 draw against Argentina last month. He also maintains one of Liga MX's most successful passing rates.
The Leon midfielder is the latest player on Mexico's increasing injury list. Giovani dos Santos was taken off the roster with an injury picked up with the LA Galaxy while Andres Guardado and Rafa Marquez are on the roster but recovering from ankle and adductor problems respectively.
