World no 1 Kingsbury fulfils lifelong dream to win Olympic gold
World number 1 Mikael Kingsbury of Canada, fulfiled a lifelong dream by claiming gold in the men's moguls this evening at the Winter Olympics.
The Canadian was the red-hot favourite for the crown in Pyeongchang, and the 25-year old held his nerve to come away with the gold. It is Kingsbury's second ever medal at the Winter Olympics after picking up silver at the 2014 games in Sochi.
Earlier in the competition world champion Ikuma Hiroshima, bowed out just before the final round after losing control on his first jump.
Kingsbury put in a faultless display in his final run, registering a winning tally of 86.63. Whilst Australian Matt Graham finished second with a score of 82.57 and Japanese athlete Daichi Hara secured bronze with a score of 82.19.
