Nadal expects Rafael to stick with uncle Toni
Former Spain defender Miguel Angel Nadal expects his brother Toni and nephew Rafael Nadal to continue their successful tennis partnership.
Miguel Angel Nadal said talk of his nephew Rafael Nadal appointing a new coach to replace his uncle Toni is news to him.
Recent reports suggested that 14-time grand-slam champion could turn to a new 'super coach' in a bid to get back to his best.
The 29-year-old's mentor Toni Nadal last month stated "maybe if next year Rafael is playing not too good, then I think he can think about some changes in his game or in his team".
Rafael failed to progress beyond the quarter-finals of a grand slam this year, but returned to form at the back end of 2015 and reached the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour Finals last week.
Ex-Spain footballer Miguel Angel expects his brother to remain in the legendary left hander's corner in 2016.
"I don't think so. It would be very weird for me to find out in press, about things happening at home," the former Barcelona defender told Omnisport when asked if his nephew may appoint a new coach.
"I have this news available to me at home. Obviously it's been a while and that's exhausting for anyone working at the level they work, but both [Toni and Rafa] can be very pleased of what they have achieved over their careers.
"I think they are now where they want to be and fighting to be up there again."
Miguel Angel also spoke of Rafael's football talents, but said he made the right decision to pursue a professional career in tennis.
"It would be difficult to do in football everything he has done in tennis. He's passionate about football, he liked it a lot when he was little and he's really competitive," he added.
"He had skills to be a good player as well as personality. But I think he made the right choice going for tennis."
