Wasps miss chance to go top with surprise Gloucester loss
Gloucester stopped Wasps from going top of the Premiership with a surprise 36-18 win on Saturday.
Wasps missed the chance to put pressure on Saracens by temporarily going top of the Premiership as they were beaten 36-18 at Gloucester.
Bath moved to the summit with their 16-9 defeat of winless Bristol on Friday and remain there ahead of Sarries' trip to Sale Sharks after Wasps fluffed their lines at Kingsholm.
A James Hook penalty and Richard Hibbard's try sent Gloucester into the break with a 10-5 lead after Thomas Young had briefly given Dai Young's side the advantage.
Jimmy Gopperth knocked over a pair of three-pointers to edge Wasps ahead again after the interval, only for Mark Atkinson to pounce on a Danny Cipriani error to score before Matt Scott went over for Gloucester's third try, Hook converting both to put the hosts firmly in command.
Young's second, to which Gopperth added the extras, cut the gap to six points and gave Wasps hope.
However, that was extinguished by late scores from Charlie Sharples and Henry Purdy as Gloucester claimed only their second win of the campaign.
