Alberts replaces injured De Jager for Springboks
Lood de Jager is set for two weeks on the sidelines, so Willem Alberts has been added to South Africa's squad to face New Zealand.
A "severely bruised knee" for Lood de Jager has resulted in South Africa calling up lock Willem Alberts for the Rugby Championship clash with New Zealand next weekend.
De Jager sustained the injury, which is expected to sideline him for two weeks, during Saturday's 23-17 defeat to Australia in Brisbane, the Springboks losing their second successive match after beginning their campaign with a victory over Argentina.
Alberts, who featured in Stade Francais' 29-25 victory over Castres on Saturday, will join the squad in Christchurch to provide additional depth following recent physical issues for Siya Kolisi and Sikhumbuzo Notshe.
The Boks have already lost Julian Redelinghuys and Ruan Combrinck to long-term injuries since the start of the Rugby Championship.
Faf de Klerk and Johan Goosen could also be in doubt for the match against the leading All Blacks after undergoing scans on Saturday.
De Klerk took a hit to the chest while an ankle problem following an awkward landing was the cause of concern for Goosen.
