Injured Welbeck ruled out for up to nine months
The Arsenal striker has been ruled out for up to nine months due to the knee injury he sustained against Manchester City on Sunday.
Arsenal announced striker Danny Welbeck has undergone surgery on his right knee and has been ruled out for up to nine months, meaning he will miss England's Euro 2016 campaign.
Welbeck was replaced by Jack Wilshere after 24 minutes of Sunday's 2-2 Premier League draw with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Specialists determined surgery was necessary "after scans and tests revealed significant cartilage damage."
Arsenal expects a full recovery to take "approximately nine months," meaning he will be unavailable for selection for the European Championship in France next month.
