Premier League side Watford have confirmed that they have parted ways with Coach Marco Silva. The Portuguese tactician had previously been linked with a move to Everton at the start of the season.
However, a statement from the club has indicated that an “unwarranted approach” for the coach along with a downturn in results for the Hornets of the reason the two parties have decided to separate.
“This has been a difficult decision and one not taken lightly. The Club is convinced the appointment of Silva was the right one and had it not been for the unwarranted approach by a Premier League rival for his services we would have continued to prosper under his leadership.
The catalyst for this decision is that unwarranted approach, something which the Board believes has seen a significant deterioration in both focus and results to the point where the long-term future of Watford FC has been jeopardised. The Club will seek to make a swift appointment and there will be no further comment until that appointment has been made” added the statement.
Watford have not won in their last five Premier League games and lost 2-0 on the weekend to Leicester, the Hornets are currently sitting in tenth place in the Premier League Standings.
