Russian athletics coach Mokhnev banned for a decade
The Court of Arbitration for Sport imposed a lengthy ban on Vladimir Mokhnev, who coached whistleblower Yuliya Stepanova.
Russian athletics coach Vladimir Mokhnev has been banned for 10 years after being found guilty of breaching IAAF regulations on banned substances, while runner Anastasiya Bazdyreva has been suspended for two years.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) deemed that Mokhnev, who coached the likes of Russian whistleblower Yuliya Stepanova, broke rules relating to possession, trafficking and administration of banned substances and/or methods.
Mokhnev will be prevented from coaching for a decade after CAS imposed a ban which started on Friday.
CAS, making the verdicts due to the All Russia Athletic Federation being deemed non-compliant by the IAAF following revelations of state-sponsored doping made in the McLaren report, also banned 800m runner Bazdyreva for breaking IAAF rules.
Bazdyreva's results from April 23, 2014 and August 24 last year have been disqualified after she was found to have used or attempted to use a prohibited substance or engaged in a prohibited method.
The 24-year-old will not be eligible to compete until August next year.
