British sprinters injured in Tenerife crash
British athletes James Ellington and Nigel Levine are both receiving medical treatment in hospital after a road accident on Tuesday.
European relay champions James Ellington and Nigel Levine are "conscious and stable" in hospital after a road accident in Tenerife.
The British duo sustained injuries after being involved in a collision while reportedly riding motorbikes during a training camp on the Spanish island.
Ellington, who won European 4x100metre gold in 2014 and 2016, is said to have undergone surgery following the crash, while 2014 4x400m champion Levine also needed medical attention.
A British Athletics spokesman said: "Regretfully we can confirm that James Ellington and Nigel Levine have sustained injuries following a road accident in Tenerife on Tuesday evening.
"Both athletes are receiving medical treatment and are conscious and stable. British Athletics medical staff are with the athletes and liaising with hospital staff over their treatment.
"We are in communication with their family members in the UK and will be keeping them informed of the situation.
"We will not be releasing further information on their injuries at the present time."
