Australia complete series whitewash over Pakistan
Australia's bowlers got the job done in Sydney, completing a series whitewash against Pakistan on Saturday.
Australia completed a series whitewash over Pakistan with a comprehensive 220-run win in the third Test in Sydney.
The tourists struggled to provide any real resistance in Sydney on day five, bowled out for 244 before tea on Saturday.
Set 465 for victory, Pakistan lost early wickets and with it their hopes of saving the Test and avoiding a 3-0 series loss.
Sarfraz Ahmed (72 not out), Sharjeel Khan (40) and captain Misbah-ul-Haq (38) were their top-scorers.
But spin duo Steve O'Keefe (3-53) and Nathan Lyon (2-100) and pacemen Josh Hazlewood (3-29) and Mitchell Starc (1-57) saw Australia to victory.
Resuming at 55-1, Pakistan made the worst possible start as Azhar Ali (11) hit a return catch to Hazlewood.
Babar Azam (9) was trapped plumb in front by Hazlewood as nightwatchman Yasir Shah continued to frustrate the hosts.
First-innings centurion Younis Khan (13) was the next to go, skying a Lyon delivery to Hazlewood.
Yasir finally departed when he edged O'Keefe to Jackson Bird at second slip, before Steve Smith dropped a tough chance off Asad Shafiq before lunch.
Shafiq (30) played on a Starc ball shortly after the break before Misbah – who had looked settled – fell trying to attack O'Keefe.
The Pakistan captain tried to smash an O'Keefe delivery, only to sky one to Lyon.
O'Keefe also removed Wahab Riaz (12), who was ruled to have edged behind to Matthew Wade after a review.
Mohammad Amir (5) hung around before a bad mix-up with Sarfraz led to him being run out.
Imran Khan fell for a duck to finish the series, edging Hazlewood to Bird after the new ball had been taken.
