Hope Solo guarding against mosquito bites amid Zika concerns
The United States goalkeeper has packed an impressive load of insect-repelling products as she prepares for the Olympics in Brazil.
It appears that Hope Solo feels ready for Brazil.
In February, the United States goalkeeper told reporters that she was unlikely to play in August's Olympic Games because of the threat of the Zika virus in Brazil. Many health officials have recommended that women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant avoid travel to Brazil or other Zika-affected areas, with the CDC finding a link between Zika and the birth defect microcephaly.
In May, Solo reversed course, saying she'll play matches and go to training but otherwise may remain in her room. And during the times where she's outside, she has packed what appears to be a more than adequate supply of various insect repellant and prevention devices to guard against bites from mosquitos, which are the main vectors of the Zika virus.
While Solo looks set to share those goods with friends, she's keeping some things for herself.
