Warriors, Spurs ease to wins

Warriors, Spurs ease to wins

The Golden State Warriors claimed a convincing win in the NBA as the San Antonio Spurs did likewise on Thursday.

The Warriors made it three straight wins courtesy of a 127-107 victory against the Detroit Pistons.

The Spurs, meanwhile, returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion, thrashing the Los Angeles Lakers 134-94.

The New York Knicks also enjoyed a relatively comfortable win.

WARRIORS DO IT EASILY

A 41-19 third quarter set up the Warriors' win.

Kevin Durant (25 points), Stephen Curry (24) and Klay Thompson (23) all contributed, while Draymond Green provided 13 assists.

Andre Drummond finished with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Pistons.

SCINTILLATING SPURS

The Spurs outscored the Lakers 36-24 in the first quarter and never looked back.

Kawhi Leonard (31 points) and Pau Gasol (22 points) led the way, with the latter going nine-of-nine from the field.

Gasol also had nine rebounds and six assists as the Spurs improved to 14-5 at home.

KNICKS OVERCOME BULLS

Carmelo Anthony's 23 points guided the Knicks to a 104-89 victory against the Chicago Bulls.

Joakim Noah had a double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Derrick Rose had 17 points.

Without Jimmy Butler, the Bulls were led by Dwyane Wade and his 22 points.

EASY FOR STEPH

NUGGETS WIN IN LONDON

The Denver Nuggets enjoyed their trip to London, crushing the Indiana Pacers 140-112.

The New Orleans Pelicans rallied past the Brooklyn Nets 104-95 and the Dallas Mavericks held on to beat the Phoenix Suns 113-108.

CELTICS HEAD TO ATLANTA

Just when it looked like the Cleveland Cavaliers were going to have a free ride to the NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics (24-15) have emerged as serious contenders behind stud point guard Isaiah Thomas, who is scoring at an alarming rate. Their opponents on Friday, the Atlanta Hawks (22-16), have traded away some pieces in recent months, but are still strong playoff contenders.
