Nowitzki signs two-year deal with Mavericks
On Thursday, the Mavericks announced 13-time All-Star Dirk Nowitzki, 39, signed a two-year deal to remain in Dallas.
Dirk Nowitzki has spent his entire 19-season NBA career with the Mavericks, and will get a 20th in Dallas.
On Thursday, the Mavericks announced 13-time All-Star Nowitzki signed a two-year deal to remain in Dallas – the German veteran joining former Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant as the only players in NBA history to spend a 20-year career with one team.
The 39-year-old reportedly signed an extension worth $10million, with the second year a team option.
While the 2006-07 MVP award winner and 2011 Finals MVP is aging, Nowitzki is still a strong contributor. He averaged 14.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last season, despite missing time with Achilles issues.
Nowitzki is already in rarefied air in the NBA's all-time statistics. He is sixth on the NBA's scoring list with 30,260 career points and trails fifth-placed Wilt Chamberlain by 1,159 points.
