Knicks star Rose wants to remain in New York - agent
B.J. Armstrong reiterated Derrick Rose's desire to remain at Madison Square Garden.
Derrick Rose's agent B.J. Armstrong insisted the three-time NBA All-Star wants to stay with the New York Knicks, despite being included in trade negotiations.
Rose was traded by the Chicago Bulls in June but the former MVP point guard has not completely convinced people in New York, having angered Knicks officials when he missed last month's loss to the New Orleans Pelicans without informing the team.
The 28-year-old was subject to trade interest before the deadline but Armstrong reiterated Rose's desire to remain at Madison Square Garden.
"Like I've said all along, and like he's said all along, you know what, he wants to be in New York. He feels comfortable there," Armstrong told Sirius XM NBA radio on Saturday.
"But we understand the business. ... When no one is calling for you [prior to the trade deadline] is when you're in trouble."
The Minnesota Timberwolves emerged as a possible destination according to reports and Armstrong added: "It was an opportunity to see what his value truly was throughout the league.
"So as you can see, through all the reports, there were teams that were interested in him and what he does and what he brings to the court.
"I wasn't surprised that he wasn't traded. Derrick is putting together, game by game, coming back and really beginning to play at a consistent level to where he's at and what he's going to be at this stage of his career.
"So I think there was a lot of rumours, his name was out there. But in the end, I think the Knicks did what they thought was in their best interests."
