Aldridge dismisses trade talk: I'm happy with the Spurs
Speculation has emerged that LaMarcus Aldridge is unhappy in San Antonio, which is news to the five-time NBA All-Star.
Reports of unrest and a possible departure after just one season with the San Antonio Spurs? Try explaining that to LaMarcus Aldridge.
Speculation has emerged that Aldridge is unsettled in San Antonio, with the five-time NBA All-Star reportedly unhappy to be playing second-fiddle to Kawhi Leonard.
That has led to talk of a possible trade as Aldridge, who averaged 18 points and 8.5 rebounds in 2015-16, enters the second season of his four-year maximum contract.
However, the 31-year-old forward has no plans to leave the Spurs.
"For sure I am [happy]," Aldridge told the Jim Rome Show on Thursday.
"We made history last year [by going 40-1 at home, matching an NBA record]. They've incorporated me into the family. Try to make me one of the big pieces.
"I'm winning. Of course I'm happy. That's why I don't buy into the rumours. I feel like I do my job here and I feel like I've done everything that they've asked. That's why I haven't bought into the rumours."
Aldridge added: "I talk to [coach Gregg Popovich] daily and he's always telling me that I'm doing great.
"[I'm] trying to be a more of a leader. He's put me in positions where I can be more of a leader. As long as the guys here aren't saying bad things to me. All my team-mates have said nothing but great things to me."
