Alonso motivated by fresh F1 challenges
The 2017 Formula One season will bring new car specifications that are set to make racing even faster, which suits Fernando Alonso.
Fernando Alonso is primed to profit from the implementation of fresh specifications aimed at knocking seconds off lap times in Formula One, says McLaren's racing director Eric Boullier.
New innovations for cars on the grid in 2017 will see an increase in downforce and the use of tyres that have done away with the built-in loss of performance of previous years.
The Spaniard, a two-time world champion, has often been outspoken about the sport's propensity to change its rules and regulations, but Boullier says the latest developments are very much to his taste.
"He's been working very, very hard this winter and he's really ready and eager," Boullier told Sky Sports News.
"He drove this kind of car, or even faster car, in the past so he knows what to expect.
"He can't wait to drive the car. He drove it in the simulator, but it's not the same. I'm sure he can't wait to drive it on the track and see if it's delivering what we expect."
The season begins with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 26.
