Vinales to ride solo for Movistar Yamaha at Misano with Rossi ruled out
With Valentino Rossi predictably ruled out after breaking his leg, Maverick Vinales will be Movistar Yamaha's sole representative at Misano.
Movistar Yamaha have announced Maverick Vinales will be their sole rider at this weekend's San Marino Grand Prix as Valentino Rossi continues his recovery from a broken leg.
Rossi underwent surgery last Friday after suffering "displaced fractures of the tibia and fibula of his right leg" in a motocross crash.
On Wednesday, Movistar Yamaha confirmed Rossi will miss his home grand prix.
"A somewhat incomplete Movistar Yamaha MotoGP Team returns to Italy for the Gran Premio Tribul Mastercard di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini this week, with Maverick Vinales as the team's sole representative following Valentino Rossi's injury," read a team statement.
"For the San Marino Grand Prix, the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP Team will set up his [Rossi's] garage as usual, so his two YZR-M1s will be there for the fans to see."
Rossi's recovery is said to be "going well", but it remains to be seen when the Italian will be fit to return.
