Yorkshire to host 2019 Road Worlds, Berlin gets 2020 Track Worlds
Among the announcement of hosting rights to 15 flagship events, the UCI awarded Yorkshire and Berlin with two of its premier competitions.
The UCI has awarded the 2019 Road World Championships hosting rights to Yorkshire, while the 2020 Track Cycling World Championships will take place in Berlin.
After 37 years the road-racing event will return to the United Kingdom, with Goodwood the last British venue in 1982.
The Road Worlds usually take place in September, although this year's edition has been delayed until October due to hot conditions in host city Doha.
Berlin was the venue for the 1999 Track Worlds and 2020 will be the fourth time the German capital has staged the event.
The UCI announced the hosting rights to 15 flagship events on Wednesday and president Brian Cookson hopes it helps expand interest in the sport.
Cookson said: "We are delighted to be able to reveal the names of so many new hosts from such a wide range of countries around the world and we look forward to working closely with the successful cities and regions in the coming months and years as we build towards each of these UCI World Championships.
"We were especially impressed by the strength of interest in hosting our flagship events, as demonstrated by the sheer number and calibre of the bids we received.
"The UCI is committed to expanding the reach of cycling worldwide and ensuring the sport continues to grow in both established and emerging markets."
