Golovkin hungry for Canelo fight
A showdown with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez was quickly spoken about in the aftermath of Gennady Golovkin's win on Saturday.
Undefeated middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin is hungry like an "animal" to step into the ring with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.
Golovkin improved his flawless record to 37-0 thanks to a unanimous points decision against Daniel Jacobs in New York on Saturday.
A blockbuster showdown with WBC light-middleweight champion Canelo was quickly spoken about in the aftermath of Golovkin's 12-round victory at Madison Square Garden amid ongoing talks regarding a future fight and the Kazakh star is waiting.
"I'm ready and I'm really hungry," Golovkin said inside the ring after defending his WBA super, WBC, IBO and IBF belts.
"For that fight I am like an animal."
Golovkin was pushed to the limit by cancer survivor Jacobs, as his 23-knockout streak came to an end - a run dating back to 2008.
Jacobs was floored by Golovkin in the fourth round but the American (32-2) felt the result was unfair.
"I think I won the fight. I think I won it by two rounds," Jacobs said.
"This is boxing and they wanted that big matchup but I won the fight."
