Real on the brink of regaining ACB title
Real Madrid took a 2-0 lead in the Liga ACB play-off final after comfortably defeating fierce rivals Barcelona 100-80 on Sunday.
Real Madrid took a significant step towards another Liga ACB title as their 100-80 win over Barcelona put them 2-0 up in the best-of-five series.
Real had edged ahead in the series with a 78-72 success in the opening game on Friday, but Sunday's encounter was a much more comfortable affair.
These two great rivals have contested each of the last three finals, with Barca winning twice, but the Catalan side have it all to do if they are to retain the crown they won last season.
Hosts Real put in a superb first-quarter performance to lay the foundations for their victory, reaching the first break 31-10 in front.
Although Barca edged the second quarter by four points, Real never looked likely to relinquish their position of control, winning each of the final two quarters to see out the victory and move to within one win of glory.
Sergio Llull was the star of the show for the victors, netting 24 of his side's points, while Rudy Fernandez was also a key contributor with 17.
Justin Doellman also netted 24 for Barca, but it proved in vain and Real, whose 2013 title was their first since 2007, now have the chance to wrap up the series in Barcelona on Wednesday.
