Manchester City Edge Out Real Madrid for American Pearl
Manchester City is close to signing a 14-year-old prodigy who was wanted by Real Madrid.
Pep Guardiola's Manchester City has taken the lead and is on the verge of closing the deal for the young American prospect from the Philadelphia Union, Cavan Sullivan. He's gained recognition for his skills, ball control, and vision of the game at just 14 years old.
According to information from journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City has surged ahead in the race to sign this rising star, beating out clubs like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund. Cavan is the younger brother of Quinn Sullivan, a forward prospect for both the Philadelphia Union and the United States national team.
“Cavan is a fantastic young talent. I dare say I've never seen a kid develop as much as Cavan has. He's grounded, despite all the extra attention he's getting. It hasn't gone to his head, and I think that's what's fantastic about him. It's also what allows him to come into our environment and continue to be great and bold,” said Marlon LeBlanc, coach of the Philadelphia Union II.
Manchester City plans to send Sullivan to Belgium to continue his development at 16, and at 18, they'll bring him to British soil so he can further his development with the Citizens.
