Carter apologises for drink-driving

New Zealand great Dan Carter is prepared to accept his punishment after being caught drink-driving.

Carter, a former All Blacks star who won two Rugby World Cups, apologised for his actions following the incident in France.

The 34-year-old, who now plays with Racing Metro in the Top 14, said he was ready to accept whatever came his way.

"I am sure a lot of you have seen the headlines," Carter wrote on Facbook.

"No excuses - I made a massive error of judgment and have let down my club, my fans and most importantly my family.

"I will have to now let the police/court process run its course and face the consequences.

"I am just glad no one was harmed. Sorry."

Carter played 112 games for the All Blacks and also won four Super Rugby titles with Crusaders.
