Socceroos stars wish Mooy all the best
Rivals in the EFL Championship, Aaron Mooy's international team-mates Jackson Irvine and Bailey Wright have wished him luck in his Premier League promotion clash for Huddersfield against Reading.
Two of Aaron Mooy's Australia team-mates - who also happen to be EFL Championship rivals - Jackson Irvine and Bailey Wright - have backed the Socceroos star to help guide Huddersfield Town to the Premier League promotion against Reading on Tuesday morning (AEST).
Irvine, who enjoyed a fruitful season at lowly Burton Albion - scoring 10 goals as the team staved off relegation - backed mooy to be in the top flight next season regardless of the result against Jaap Stam's team.
"I think I'm more nervous than he is probably and I think a lot of the boys would be feeling the same way," Irvine said. "It's a massive game."
"To be perfectly honest I don't think it will matter, I think he'll be in the premier league next season no matter what.
"For what they've done this season and the way he's played, I think it would be fitting for them to go up and the drama of Wembley would make it all the more exciting."
Bristol City defender Wright echoed that sentiment, although he was keen to point out his superior record against Mooy this season.
"I'd like to see him do it. He deserves it and they've been a good team all season," Wright said. "Obviously I'll be biased towards Huddersfield. I'd like to see Huddersfield do it, especially for Azza.
"Luckily for me I've beaten them twice this year. He's not to happy about that one. I think it's about 8-1 on aggregate for me. Very unlucky they've been beaten like that but both times I've enjoyed it.
