Muscle-bound hulk to referee Socceroos' final charge

He's the ripped referee tasked with keeping things amicable on the pitch when Australia hosts Honduras in their do-or-die 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Wednesday evening.

Meet Nestor Pitana, the shredded Argentinian referee who'll be officiating the Socceroos' do-or-die 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying second leg against Honduras on Wednesday. 

With a physique better suited to a wrestling ring, the former actor burst into the football consciousness during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, where his towering frame alone appeared enough to diffuse the most hot-headed of footballers.

He has form when it comes to Honduras, officiating its 2014 World Cup 3-0 loss to Switzerland. 

The bulked-up 42 year-old will be on high alert for any dirty tactics employed by either side as the Socceroos host the central American team in a do-or-die second leg.

Frankly, it would be a bold player indeed to risk incurring the wrath of the enlarged umpire.
