Mooy to sign on at Huddersfield for $16 million
Australia star Aaron Mooy is on the brink of a permanent move from Manchester City to Huddersfield after the clubs reportedly agreed a $A16 million fee.
Aaron Mooy will lead Huddersfield's Premier League charge after the promoted club reportedly agreed a $16.8 million fee with Manchester City for the Socceroos midfielder.
A BBC report states the amount - a record for the Terriers - will comprise an initial payment of $A13 million, with a further $A3.3 million in add-ons.
Mooy starred while on loan for the Terriers in the English second division last season, playing in 51 matches across the league and Cups and earning a place in the EFL Championship team of the year.
The sum Huddersfield is willing to pay surpasses what other Premier League clubs paid for high-profile Australians Mark Viduka, Harry Kewell and Brad Smith.
It is understood Mooy had also caught the eye of fellow promoted club Newcastle United, while West Ham was another among a number of suitors interested in the industrious midfielder.
