Mooy signs for Manchester City
Melbourne City midfielder Aaron Mooy has signed with sister club Manchester City on a three-year deal.
Mooy joined Melbourne City from Western Sydney Wanderers in 2014 and has since developed into a regular for the national team one of the best midfielders in the A-League.
The 25-year-old won back-to-back Player of the Year awards in Melbourne after joining from A-League rivals Western Sydney Wanderers in 2014.
Mooy lead the way for Melbourne City last season, with 11 goals and 21 assists in 26 appearances and a starring performance for the Socceroos in the 2-1 defeat against Engalnd certainly helped his cause.
Brian Marwood, Managing Director, City Football Services, said; “Aaron is an extremely talented player who possesses the attributes we hope to foster and encourage within the City Football Group.
Meanwhile, former Brisbane Roar midfielder Luke Brattan heads in the other direction on loan from Manchester City, a similar move to fellow countryman Anthony Caceres, who extended his loan deal from the Premier League club until the end of the 2016/2017 season.
“My experience in England has been a fantastic one and, thanks to my time at the City Football Academy, I have never felt more prepared for a season," Brattan said.
Melbourne City coach John van’t Schip thanked Mooy for his contribution to the club and welcomed the arrival of Luke Brattan in his place.
“Aaron was a fantastic contributor to Melbourne City and we must first and foremost thank him for his involvement and impact during his time at the Club,” he said.
"Luke will be a fantastic addition to our squad; he has long been recognised as an impressive young talent in Australia, and we are looking forward to what he can bring to our midfield, particularly after his experience overseas."
