Maldini qualifies for pro Tennis tournament
Italy and AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini has shown his talents extend beyond the football pitch after he qualified for a professional tennis tournament on the ATP Challenger tour.
The 48 year-old secured passage in to the Aspira Tennis Cup after winning a qualifier with doubles partner and former tennis pro Stefano Landonio.
Maldini's competitive edge hasn't deserted him since hanging up the boots in 2009, and will be looking to add another trophy to his decorated career when he heads to the ATP Challenge event on 26 June.
The former defender has been talked up by his doubles partner Landonio, who told Tennis Italiano: "Paolo's gifted with a good serve in addition to some decent shots."
"He's also improving his volleys and while he may not be catching the eye in any particular part of his game, he does not have any weaknesses either."
Maldini made 647 Serie A appearances for Milan, winning 26 trophies before retiring in 2009.
