Icelandic GoT giant too late with France banter
Game of Thrones' Mountain Hafpor J Bjornsson took to Twitter to sledge France. Problem is, he arrived a little too late to the party.
It was the sledge designed to strike fear into the hearts of France, as Icelandic strong man Hafpor J Bjornsson - the beast who plays The Mountain on Game of Thrones - took to twitter to banter his nation's UEFA EURO 2016 quarter-final opponent, France.
Problem is, the intimidating missive arrived two goals too late and, regardless of whether you are man or mythical mountain, the internet doesn't forgive easily, a stream of memes revelling in Bjornsson's tardiness.
For its part, Iceland was no match for the host nation, which produced its best performance of the tournament to set up a semi-final against Germany with a 5-2 win.
Bjornsson could be forgiven for having his mind on other things. Fresh from starring in the last episode of Game of Thrones, he now turns his attention to the 2016 edition of the lift-a-thon that is The World's Strongest Man.
Suffice to say we'll leave the sledging to the Twitter trolls. After all, this is the same Bjornsson who lifts cars and stuff:
