Grigg receives heroes welcome in Belfast
Despite not playing a single minute at UEFA EURO 2016, Will Grigg received a rapturous applause upon his return home to Northern Ireland.
The League One striker became a cult hero at EURO 2016 for the chant "Will Griggs on fire" which quickly became an internet sensation.
Northern Ireland bowed out of the competition in the round of 16, and Grigg constantly stole the headlines for Martin O'Neill's side, despite watching the entire campaign from the bench.
His cult-hero status was confirmed when the team returned to Belfast, where Grigg received a deafening chant when his name was called to the stage.
Germany defender Mats Hummel swapped shirts with the cult-hero during the group stage clash on 22 June (AEST), and former Manchester United great Eric Cantona even got in on the act with own rendition of the chant.
The 24 year-old earned a call-up to the national team off the back of a prolific season with Wigan, bagging 25 goals in 40 appearances, but Grigg concedes a lack of game time at EURO 2016 was 'massively disappointing.'
"The song is one thing, but to come to a tournament like this and not play, as a professional footballer, is massively disappointing," he said.
