Anderlecht awaits United in Europa League
The next challenge in Manchester United's UEFA Europa League campaign comes in the form of Anderlecht.
Manchester United will face Belgian side Anderlecht in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals after the draw was completed in Nyon on Friday (AEDT).
Jose Mourinho will welcome the shorter trip to Belgium, but likely now has to face increasing pressure as expectations for his side to win this year's competition will undoubtedly be raised.
Winning the Europa League looks to be United's best chance to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League, one of the reasons why the Red Devils are putting everything into winning the trophy.
Lyon and Besiktas, two of the bigger clubs left in the last eight, were draw against each other in the other big tie from the draw.
Lyon dumped Roma out of the Roud of 16 on Friday in an epic encounter, and face another test against the Turkish side, not least when it has to travel to Istanbul for the second leg.
In the other matches, Australia's Mat Ryan will travel back to Spain when Genk — where he is playing on loan from Valencia — plays Celta Vigo in its quarter-final. Genk thrashed fellow Belgian side Gent 6-3 on aggregate in their Round of 16 tie.
Dutch giant Ajax was drawn at home to play Schalke in the last of the ties. Both sides came from behind to win their Round of 16 clashes, with Ajax overturning a 2-1 defeat in Copenhagen to win 2-0 in Amsterdam and 3-2 on aggregate, while Schalke dumped fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach in an equally tight tussle.
Schalke trailed Gladbach 2-0 heading into the second half of their second leg match on Friday (AEDT), 3-1 on aggregate, but clawed its way back to 2-2 on the night, and 3-3 on aggregate, to take the tie on the away goals rule.
Matches will be played on Friday 14 April AEDT, and will be broadcast LIVE on beIN SPORTS.
