Cahill steels himself for Indian adventure
Australia's record goal scorer Tim Cahill is on the move again, signing a contract with Indian Premier League club Jamshedpur FC for the 2018/2019 season.
Cahill, who scored 50 goals for the Socceroos in a career lasting 14 years, retired from international football after playing at his fourth FIFA World Cup in Russia earlier this year.
Jamshedpur is located in the north east of India in the state of Jharkhand, with Kolkata the nearest major city.
It is known as "Steel City" on account of it being home to the 10th largest steel manufacturer in the world.
"I'm excited to announce that I'm signing for Jamshedpur FC in the Indian Super League," he said via Twitter.
"I’ve been really impressed in my conversations with the club by their professionalism and goals for what they want to achieve.
"I know I can help the team on and off the park with my leadership and experience. I want to help grow the game and encourage young kids to play football.
"I'm looking forward to beginning this next adventure, meeting my team-mates at training camp in Madrid."
Cahill, who turns 39 in December, struggled for first team football in the A-League at Melbourne City before returning to Millwall in England prior to earning his place in Australia's squad for Russia 2018.
"The team owners and partners have very strong values for the future of the club and I'm looking forward to helping them achieve all of these goals," he added.
