Draper targets 2027 return after 'complicated injury'

Jack Draper revealed he will not feature on the ATP Tour until 2027 as he hopes to return to the court "100% ready to go".

Draper has had a torrid year with injuries, which began at the 2025 US Open, when he first suffered an arm injury.

The injury saw the 24-year-old miss the Australian Open, while further problems, including a knee injury, also saw him sidelined for the French Open and Wimbledon.

Draper featured at the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open, albeit losing his opening match in both tournaments, before pulling out of the US Open.

Missing all four majors this year, Draper has played just 15 matches in 2026, winning only eight as he dropped outside the top 100 in the ATP rankings.

His best runs saw him reach the semi-finals at Eastbourne and quarter-finals at Indian Wells, where he defeated Novak Djokovic in three sets.

After his absence at the US Open, Draper is now planning to rest for the remainder of the season to be fit in time for the 2027 campaign.

"Don't usually love lots of words on here but I wanted to update you that I am aiming to return to the tour at the start of 2027," Draper posted on Instagram.

"Last summer, all the dedication and work I had put into this sport was coming together. It was all going my way and the path seemed so clear.

"However, a complicated injury made things incredibly challenging and since that moment, I've been desperately trying to get back and feel as I once did on the court.

"Managing so much change, adversity and pain has helped me to grow massively in many areas of my life but has also made me feel a level of fatigue.

"I am taking this time to reset and heal so when I return I am 100% ready to go."
