Reigning Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen converted pole into victory at Monza, holding off McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri to win the Italian Grand Prix! 

A controversial moment unfolded as McLaren implemented team orders, instructing Piastri to swap positions with Norris following the latter’s slow pit stop. The move allowed Norris to finish ahead of his teammate, reducing Piastri’s lead at the top of the drivers’ standings by eight points. 

The race also saw a collision between Williams’ Carlos Sainz and Haas’ Ollie Bearman, with Bearman later receiving a 10-second penalty from the stewards. Kick Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg, meanwhile, did not start the race after being called into the pits during the formation lap. At the same time, Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin was forced to retire due to suspension issues.
