Petnamkhong Is On Fire – And He Is Ready To Put Laos On The Map At ONE Friday Fights 158
After a difficult stretch, Petnamkhong Sor Maneekhot has rediscovered everything that makes him dangerous.
The 22-year-old Laotian is riding the best form of his ONE Championship career heading into the main event of ONE Friday Fights 158 on June 12 against Maisangkum Sor Yingcharoenkarnchang – and a victory could do more than extend a winning streak. It could change his life and elevate an entire country.
The Fire Never Left, It Just Needed A Spark
Petnamkhong has been unstoppable in 2026.
He kicked off the year with a unanimous decision over Payakrut Suajantokmuaythai in February, then followed it with a second-round TKO over Tonglampoon FA Group in April. Back-to-back wins, terrific momentum, and a version of himself that is faster and more dangerous than ever.
The turnaround did not happen by accident, however. He never stopped believing in himself, never stopped working, and leaned on the people around him to push through the tough moments. The result is a fighter who has refined his weapons and rediscovered his belief.
"What got me back on track was that I never lost faith in myself. I still have that fire in me. I just kept focusing on what I needed to do to get back to the ONE stage. Skill-wise, I've really worked on making my weapons a lot faster than before," Petnamkhong said. "My motivation is through the roof right now. I've got that fire back thanks to the younger guys at the gym, my older sister, and all the fans cheering me on."
Knowing The Threat And Having An Answer
Petnamkhong looks to keep the momentum rolling and earn his 46th career victory, but Maisangkum Sor Yingcharoenkarnchang is not an easy assignment.
The 25-year-old Thai brings explosive punching power into the main event and a style built around walking opponents down and hurting them. What’s more, he has been in enough big fights to know how to manage pressure.
Petnamkhong has done his scouting and respects every bit of the threat. But he also knows where the openings are. His wide arsenal of skills and versatility could be the difference-maker, and the crowd could be helpful, too. With Thai and Laotian fans filling Lumpinee Stadium, the atmosphere will be anything but neutral.
"He's a puncher and kicker. The dangerous thing about him is that I have to stay completely sharp and composed because I'm the type of fighter who likes to dart in and out quickly," Petnamkhong explained. "As for my advantages, I throw a wider variety of weapons, and I have the edge when it comes to crowd support. I've got both Thai and Laotian fans backing me up."
A Must-Win Scenario For Both Men
This is not just another fight.
Both men are on winning streaks and both men are chasing the same prize. A loss on Friday would set either competitor back significantly. A win, on the other hand, would put the life-changing US$100,000 contract and global roster spot within reach.
For Petnamkhong, it is even bigger than that. The Sor Maneekhot product wants to win for himself, he wants to win for his gym, and he wants to win for every Laotian who has ever watched him fight and dared to dream.
"This victory is massive for both of us. He wants a contract, and I want a contract too. I have to get through him to get that life-changing deal. If I beat him, it's going to skyrocket my name," Petnamkhong said. "Of course, I want to bring pride to Laos and put my gym on the map. I want the whole world to know that Laotian fighters have what it takes, and I want to show everyone exactly where Laos is on the map."
