Carlo Ancelotti is relishing the opportunity to manage Brazil at the Maracana when they host Chile in a World Cup qualifier.

The Italian head coach has already taken charge of two matches in his new role, starting with a goalless draw against Ecuador before a 1-0 victory against Paraguay secured their spot at the 2026 World Cup.

Ancelotti has made some notable omissions from his squad this time around, with Neymar, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo all left out for their upcoming final qualifying games against Chile and Bolivia.

Although they have already booked their place in next summer's tournament, Brazil have struggled in their qualifying campaign. They have lost five of their 16 matches and sit third, 10 points behind Argentina in the table.

Despite his lengthy career in management, this will be Ancelotti's first match at the Maracana, and the 66-year-old is looking forward to the experience.

"For me, it is a new experience, very beautiful, my first time at Maracana, in the temple of world football," said Ancelotti.

"A new experience that I will always have in my memories. The game... I hope for the maximum, that the team plays well, takes confidence and that they have a good attitude and intensity in the game."

One player who will be looking to impress Ancelotti is Zenit striker Luiz Henrique.

The 24-year-old received his first call-up since November 2024, having scored twice and assisted once in six qualifying matches this campaign.

The former Botafogo and Fluminense forward admitted the prospect of playing under Ancelotti is daunting, but it is one he hopes to make the most of.

"I am very happy to return to the Brazilian National Team. It is a pride once again to defend my country," said Luiz Henrique.

"When I was here, thank God, I did very well. I had a lot of good performances, so I think I left a very good impression on the Brazilian National Team and the fans.

"This return for me is a lot of work and a lot of humility. I hope that in these two games I can help Brazil again.

"When I heard my name in the call-up, I was very anxious to be called up by a coach who has already won many things in world football.

"I was a little anxious, of course, but when I arrived here, I saw that he is an excellent guy, a great friend, partner and who helps the players a lot. I want to do my best to help the Brazilian National Team and Ancelotti."
