Torino 0-2 Roma: Malen and Pisilli keep perfect Serie A start going

Donyell Malen was on target once again as he helped Roma to a 2-0 victory over Torino in Serie A at Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

Having failed to score against Atalanta last weekend, Malen struck in the first half this time around before Niccolo Pisilli added a late second to maintain Roma's 100% start to the league season and send them top of the Serie A table.

Malen got in front of his marker to skew a header high and wide of the top-right corner before Matias Soule and Bryan Cristante both fired off target, with Roma failing to make their bright start count.

Mile Svilar then got down sharply to keep out Rolando Mandragora at the other end.

But Roma found their breakthrough in the 40th minute; Lucas Perri's pass was cut out, and Paulo Dybala slid it into Malen. His first effort was saved, but he jumped straight back up to poke the rebound into the empty net.

The visitors pushed for a second after the break, with Malen teeing up Nahuel Molina to send a swerving volley sailing just over the crossbar.

Torino remained a threat, though, with Svilar making himself big to block Giovanni Simeone's tight-angled effort before he coolly collected the forward's improvised flick, which tamely bounced towards goal.

Gianluca Mancini fired straight at Perri, but Pisilli finally got the second goal Roma had been pushing for in the 93rd minute.

Mancini held off three challenges near the corner flag and carried on playing while Torino asked for a free-kick at the byline. His cutback was pushed away by Daniel Braganca, but only as far as Pisilli, who drilled his low shot across goal into the bottom-left corner. 

Malen continues to help Roma set the pace

Roma sit top of the pile after four matches, having won all of their games, with this their third clean sheet of the campaign already.

While they were not quite as prolific in front of goal as they have been in some of their previous wins, Malen is thriving as a focal point for Gian Piero Gasperini's side.

He is the third player in Roma's history to score more than five goals (six) in their first four matches of a Serie A season, after Pedro Manfredini (seven in 1960-61) and Francesco Totti (six in 2001-02).

Malen led all Roma players for shots (four), expected goals (1.29 xG), and big chances (two), while Dybala was influential in the goal and created a game-high three chances.

While Roma maintained their 100% record, Como now sit just behind them in second on 10 points after recording their third straight league win.

They beat Parma 2-1 to stay unbeaten, with Jacobo Ramon and Kaika getting the goals, though they had to hold on for all three points at the end after David Romero's stoppage-time consolation.
