Inzaghi lauds Inter's 'outstanding' Champions League journey
Inter will play Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final on 31 May, but first, they have a Serie A title to chase.
Simone Inzaghi has hailed Inter's "outstanding journey" to the Champions League final, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the month.
Inter are through to the final for the second time in three seasons, having lost 1-0 to Manchester City in 2023.
They are bidding to win a fourth European Cup/Champions League title, having impressed en route to the final this year.
They beat Barcelona 7-6 on aggregate in the semi-final, finding their winner in extra time, having also knocked out Bayern Munich in the quarter-final.
And Inzaghi is proud of the work that his players have put in to get back to the final so quickly after the disappointment of last time.
"It's been a long journey to reach the final," Inzaghi told UEFA.com. "We took it step by step.
"Everyone remembers the last two legs against Barcelona. But even beating Bayern was incredibly difficult because they're such a great team, organised, and physical.
"The quarter-final were as intense as the semi-finals. Those were four games of incredible intensity.
"We've had an outstanding journey over the past few years. Reaching two Champions League finals is the result of everyone's hard work and sacrifice."
However, before they can turn their attention to the Champions League final, their focus is on the Serie A title race, which is going down to the wire.
Inter travel to Como on Friday, sitting one point behind Napoli, who kick off at home against Cagliari simultaneously.
In order to retain their Serie A crown without having to play a play-off, which would be scheduled for Monday if Inter draw and Napoli lose, the Nerazzurri have to better the league leaders' result.
They are given a 14.6% chance of winning the Scudetto, with Napoli the favourites heading into the final game at 85.4%.
Inter have won each of their last eight Serie A matches against Como, conceding only two goals in that period; they have only had a longer winning streak in the competition against Empoli and Genoa (nine against both).
However, after a run of eight consecutive away victories with seven clean sheets, Inter have since won only two of their last eight Serie A away matches (D3 L3).
If they were to win, and see Napoli drop points, Inter could win the Scudetto with 81 points, an average of 2.1 points per game; since 1994-95, only Juventus in 1996/97 (1.9) have won the title with a points average below 2.1.
