Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Levante for the transfer of Carlos Espi.

Espi was the subject of interest from Premier League sides Leeds United and Hull City after an impressive campaign for Levante.

However, with Gonzalo Garcia on the verge of reuniting with Alvaro Arbeloa at Fulham, Madrid have swooped in to agree a reported €25m deal with Levante, who said it "represents the biggest sale of a player developed in Levante's youth academy in the club's history".

He has signed a five-year deal with Los Blancos, keeping him at the club through to June 2031.

Espi made 66 appearances for Levante in all competitions – netting 20 goals in total – after breaking into the first team in the 2023-24 season while the club were still in LaLiga 2.

He gained attention during his debut LaLiga campaign last term, though, finishing as Levante's top scorer after netting 11 goals in 25 appearances.

No Levante player had more shots on target (24), more Opta-defined 'big' chances (18) or scored more 'big' chances (eight) than Espi in the Spanish top-flight.

The 21-year-old was also named the Under-23 Player of the Season in LaLiga for his performances, helping Levante to a 16th-place finish, avoiding relegation.
