Barcelona's Torres undergoes appendicitis surgery
Ferran Torres' season may be over after he had surgery on Wednesday, with only three games left of Barcelona's run-in.
Ferran Torres is set to miss Barcelona's push for the title after the club confirmed on Wednesday he had undergone surgery for appendicitis.
The club did not provide a timeline for his return, but local media reported Torres could miss the last three games of the campaign.
The first of those three games takes place on Thursday against Espanyol, and if Barcelona win, they will clinch the title following Real Madrid's victory over Mallorca on Wednesday.
"The first team player Ferran Torres has undergone successful surgery on 14 May for appendicitis," Barcelona said in their statement.
Torres has enjoyed a successful 2024-25 season, scoring 19 goals and assisting seven in all competitions, his best return for the club since he joined in January 2022.
In LaLiga, he has netted 10 times, and provided six assists, with three of those coming in Barcelona's crucial 4-3 Clasico win over Real Madrid on Sunday.
