Igor Thiago and Mathias Jensen earned Brentford a 2-0 win over West Ham in the Premier League, prolonging Nuno Espirito Santo's wait for a first win in charge.

Brentford dominated throughout, and had already had some close calls before their goal, with Thiago striking the crossbar and Dango Ouattara having a header cleared off the line.

They got their breakthrough in the 43rd minute, with Thiago's strike being helped into the net by Alphonse Areola, who got a full hand to it.

The Brazilian then had a second goal, a lovely dink over Hammers goalkeeper Areola, ruled out for offside in first-half stoppage time following a VAR review. 

Kevin Schade then rattled the crossbar with a thunderous header, while Keane Lewis-Potter whipped a curling effort just wide before Jensen's composed stoppage-time strike ensured Keith Andrews' team earned their first away win of the season.

West Ham, who saw Jarrod Bowen go closest only to be denied by Caoimhin Kelleher in the first half, offered little in return as they fell to a fourth consecutive loss at the London Stadium this season.

Brentford rise to 13th on 10 points, while West Ham remain in the relegation zone, three points behind Burnley in 17th.

West Ham have struggled at home this season, and even Nuno's first game at the London Stadium could not change their fortunes.

They have lost their first four home league games of a league campaign for the first time in their history.

West Ham have conceded 12 goals in those matches – their joint-most in their opening four home league outings, along with 1962-63 and 1965-66.

As for Brentford, they earned a seventh win against West Ham, and have now won two of their last three Premier League games (L1). They have also ended a run of four away games in a row without a victory (D1 L3).
