Vardy to make final Leicester appearance against Ipswich
Jamie Vardy will make his 500th and final Leicester City appearance on Sunday, in a home game against Ipswich Town.
Leicester City have confirmed they will honour Jamie Vardy in what will be his final appearance for the club on Sunday.
Vardy confirmed he would be leaving Leicester in the wake of their relegation from the Premier League.
The 38-year-old, who joined Leicester in 2012, counts a Premier League title and the FA Cup among his honours with the Foxes.
Leicester play their last home match of the season against fellow relegated team Ipswich Town this weekend.
And it will mark Vardy's final game for the club, despite the season having one more game left to run afterwards.
Vardy is on 499 Leicester appearances, and has scored 199 goals across all competitions for the Foxes.
Leicester have picked up form since their relegation was confirmed, and have taken four points from their last two games.
They beat Southampton at home before drawing away at Nottingham Forest.
"We took the lead and then went behind in the second half and showed character to get back in it and pick up a point, which is a good result for us," said defender Luke Thomas after the 2-2 draw at the City Ground.
"That’s what we’ve been looking for every week, just to keep going. We’re obviously already relegated so it’s tough, but we’ve shown that today by picking up a result. I’m sure the travelling fans will be happy on the way home.
"We want to win as many games as we can. We’ve only got two left but hopefully we can pick up results there."
Ipswich, meanwhile, fell to a 1-0 home defeat to Brentford in their last outing.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Leicester City - Facundo Buonanotte
Buonanotte is not set to play in the Championship with Leicester next season, as he is on loan from Brighton.
The Argentine scored Leicester's equaliser at Forest, converting at the end of a fine run, and will be keen to end the season on a high to ensure he is in the plans of his parent club.
Ipswich Town - Liam Delap
Delap is going to be hot property this summer, with speculation circulating that he has a £30million release clause in his contract.
The forward has scored 12 league goals for Ipswich and on Thursday, was nominated for the top-flight's Young Player of the Season award.
