Man Utd confirm Dorgu return from Denmark, Fernandes to stay with Portugal

Manchester United have confirmed Patrick Dorgu will return to the club after suffering an injury on international duty, while Bruno Fernandes will remain with Portugal.

Dorgu started in Denmark's Nations League matches against Norway and Wales, but was forced off with an injury after just 30 minutes against the latter on Sunday.

Denmark's squad has been hit hard by injuries, with the likes of Andreas Christensen, Alexander Bah, Albert Gronbaek and Kasper Dolberg also sidelined for this international break.

Dorgu has featured six times for United this season, providing two assists in three starts during a difficult period under Michael Carrick.

The full-back was set to feature for Denmark against Portugal and Wales before United hosted Tottenham on October 10, but his availability for the Red Devils is also now in doubt.

United confirmed his return, while Denmark boss Brian Reimer also told Bold: "We're sending him home now, he's out and won't be ready for next week. Further examinations must show how long he will be out.

Fernandes, meanwhile, missed Portugal's win over Norway on Sunday after Jorge Jesus revealed the United captain played through injury against Wales three days earlier.

The 32-year-old has scored four goals, including a Premier League hat-trick against Ipswich Town, and provided one assist for Carrick's side this season.

Despite concerns around a potential injury, Fernandes will stay with the Portugal squad in the hopes of featuring against Denmark.
