'I will be ready' for Europa League final after starting return, says Son
Son Heung-min made his first Tottenham start since April 10 on Friday, and is ready to feature in next week's Europa League final.
Son Heung-min insists he "will be ready" for Wednesday's Europa League final, after making his first start in a month during Tottenham's defeat by Aston Villa.
Spurs suffered their record-equalling 25th loss of the season in all competitions - matching their tally from 1991-92 - after going down 2-0 at Villa Park.
On a brighter note, Son returned to the starting line-up for the first time since their Europa League quarter-final first leg against Eintracht Frankfurt on April 10.
The skipper, who returned as a substitute against Crystal Palace last weekend, got 74 minutes under his belt to build fitness ahead of Tottenham's clash with Manchester United in the Europa League showpiece.
"I'm feeling good and ready to go," he told SpursPlay. "It was really good to get game time in my legs. I will be ready for Wednesday.
"It's been very tough to watch and not be involved with the boys. The lads did a fantastic job [against Eintracht Frankfurt and Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League quarter-finals and semi-finals].
"I was very happy to see them celebrating, which they deserve. The job is not finished. I believe we can do this. We need everybody together with one goal."
"It was important tonight, and he feels like he is getting back to some rhythm," head coach Ange Postecoglou told Sky Sports. "It gives him a good opportunity to be at his best in the final."
Victory in the Europa League would provide a remarkable salvation to a torrid campaign, which sees Spurs occupy 17th place in the Premier League with one game remaining.
Spurs have now lost eight of their last 11 league games, after registering just a single shot on target in 90 minutes at Villa Park.
"I thought up until they scored, the boys worked hard, they were really disciplined and organised," Postecoglou added.
"We didn't really let them create too many openings. We had our moments as well going forward, but once they scored, we lost a little bit of belief.
"A lot of those guys haven't played a lot. We looked like we were fatiguing, and then the game just got away from us."
