Henderson: Alexander-Arnold's Liverpool legacy will 'live forever'
Trent Alexander-Arnold confirmed he would be leaving Liverpool on Monday, with former team-mate Jordan Henderson wishing the full-back well.
Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson sent his best wishes to Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of the defender's impending exit from the club.
Liverpool confirmed on Monday that Alexander-Arnold would be leaving the club upon the expiration of his contract.
The England international made 352 appearances for Liverpool in competitions, with his trophy collection including two Premier League titles and the 2018-19 Champions League.
Alexander-Arnold leaves Anfield having registered more assists (64) than any other defender in Premier League history.
Henderson played alongside Alexander-Arnold for seven seasons, with the pair playing a crucial role in the Reds' success under Jurgen Klopp.
"What a journey! Thank you for everything! Everyone knows what the club means to you, and your legacy will live forever," Henderson commented on Alexander-Arnold's social media post confirming the news of his departure.
"The scouser in our team!! Good luck with the next chapter! We will all be supporting you."
Alexander-Arnold is expected to complete a free transfer to Real Madrid, with speculation surrounding a move to the Spanish capital intensifying over recent months.
The 26-year-old has received some criticism from some Liverpool fans as the situation has dragged on.
On Monday, former Liverpool stalwart Jamie Carragher wrote in The Telegraph: "By leaving Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold is making it harder for his own club to win its 21st league title and seventh European Cup. That is bound to stir emotions.
"The unconditional support Alexander-Arnold enjoyed from the Kop when he was fully committed to Liverpool has gone."
