Everton 2-0 Fulham: Gueye and Keane get Moyes' men back on track
Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane scored and Everton had three goals disallowed as David Moyes' team beat Fulham 2-0 on Saturday.
Fulham's poor form continued as Everton returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton went into Saturday's clash on the back of just one win since the end of August, while Fulham had snapped a four-game losing streak in the league by beating lowly Wolves last week.
However, David Moyes' team responded with a much-improved display. Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane scored to secure the points, though the Toffees also had three goals disallowed for offside.
The first of those incidents saw Thierno Barry have a close-range finish ruled out for Iliman Ndiaye drifting beyond the last man in the build-up, before James Tarkowski saw a thumping volley chalked off.
Tarkowski was involved in Everton's opener in first-half stoppage time as his header bounced off the bar and down to Tim Iroegbunam, whose scuff fell for Gueye to prod home.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall saw another marginal offside call go against Everton early in the second half, and though Fulham offered much more after the interval, with substitute Josh King performing brightly, the hosts had the second goal their performance deserved in the 81st minute.
Dewsbury-Hall swung in a corner from which Keane turned home with a combination of his head and shoulder, seeing Everton move up to 11th, four points clear of Fulham heading into the international break.
Data Debrief: Home comforts return at Hill Dickinson Stadium
Everton's unbeaten start at their new home was ended by a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham in October, but the Toffees got firmly back on track at their waterfront stadium - they have lost just one of their last eight home matches in the Premier League (W4 D3), while keeping a clean sheet in half of those games in that run (four).
And though Fulham had four attempts on target, only two of those truly tested Jordan Pickford as he made sharp stops to deny Rodrigo Muniz and Adama Traore. The Cottagers' 0.4 expected goals (xG) tally shows just how meagre their chance creation was.
Dewsbury-Hall may not have got a goal, but he delivered a standout display in midfield, winning four tackles and creating two chances, a total bettered by only Jack Grealish (three).
Keane, meanwhile, got on the scoresheet for a second successive game against Fulham. Since the start of 2020-21, only Gabriel Magalhaes (18) has scored more goals among defenders in the Premier League than Keane (13).
