Loum Tchaouna's stunning strike from range helped Burnley climb out of the relegation zone after a 2-0 win over Leeds United.

Substitute Tchaouna picked out the top-left corner for the Clarets' second goal in the 68th minute, as the hosts prevailed at Turf Moor in a battle of last season's top two in the Championship.

Lesley Ugochukwu had earlier opened the scoring on Saturday, heading home from Kyle Walker's delightful cross just 18 minutes into the clash.

Scott Parker's side had to survive long spells of Leeds pressure, but outfought their visitors before Tchaouna's 30-yard thunderbolt sealed just their second Premier League win of the season, having also beaten Sunderland at home.

Leeds controlled large periods of the contest, but could not turn their superiority into goals; Brenden Aaronson hitting the post and Jayden Bogle somehow firing over from just two yards out as they suffered their fourth defeat of the campaign.

The hosts climb above Nottingham Forest to 17th place and within a point of Daniel Farke's side, who stay 15th after missing the chance to move into the top half.

Both of Burnley's Premier League wins this season have come against promoted sides, with 86% of their points coming from those matches (six out of seven).

Aged 35 years and 143 days, Walker became the second-oldest Burnley player to assist a Premier League goal, behind Graham Alexander (38 years, 154 days) in March 2010 against Wolves.

Meanwhile, Leeds have now lost 17 of their last 22 Premier League away games, while they have now failed to keep a clean sheet in 24 of their 25 most recent such matches.

That was despite sending 47 crosses into Burnley's box, the most by any team in a Premier League match this season.
